Grow in Your Faith Through Discipleship and Fellowship

Sundays

Pastor Adam leads a study on theologian Howard Thurman’s book Jesus and the Disinherited! Come learn about the man who was one of the great theologians of the Civil Rights era, a key inspiration for Rev. Dr. MLK Jr.’s pursuit of nonviolent resistance to segregation, and what lessons his work has for pushing back on modern-day injustice. Copies of the book are provided on a “pay what you can” basis.

Colleen Runty leads a Sunday study group on the Spirit of Our Politics by Michael Wear. In this book, Michael argues that “by focusing on having the ‘right’ politics, we lose sight of the kind of people we are becoming. When political divisions show up not only on the campaign trail but also at our dinner tables, we wonder: Can we be part of a better way? The Spirit of Our Politics says ‘yes’ offering a distinctly Christian approach to politics that results in healing rather than division, kindness rather than hatred, and hope rather than despair.” Books can be purchased in the church office for $10.

Lonnie Brooks leads this year-round adult Bible study in Room 160.
